What is microneedling

 

Microneedling is a process where a device with very small and thin needles are used to puncture the top layer of the skin - the epidermis - in a designed area of treatment.

The punctures by the needles create micro injuries. As the skin heals, it produces collagen and elastin to support the recovery process. This results in a beautiful glowy look!

Depending on the treatment, needles are used to apply pigment into the skin for example in BB Glow or permanent makeup procedures.

 

The Process

First, you’ll get a numbing cream smoothed onto your face for a few minutes. When the numbing cream takes effect, you will not feel the pain of the needle pricks on your face. The beautician will then move a pen-shaped tool with tiny micro needles around your face slowly, creating micro injuries. 

The goal of the procedure is to start your body’s healing process by sending collagen and elastin to patch up the tiny injuries. Collagen helps fill in and smooth out wrinkles.

Things to note

It takes time to notice a difference. That’s because your body is healing itself. It will take a few days after the procedure to see the desired results. 

You may have some minor pain after the procedure, and your skin may be red for a few days. Your skin might also start to flake and peel, so aftercare is very important! Using a moisturizer with Ceramides will speed up the recovery process.

• No sauna, baths or swimming for 1 week
• No scrubs or exfoliators for 1 week
• No strenuous exercise for 1-2 days
• Do not use harsh soaps or scrubs or heavy skin care products on the face for 1 week.
